DANIELIUS RUSYS

Painter Danielius Rusys has been participating in exhibitions since 1991. He completed his master’s studies in fresco-mosaic at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and he was inspired to paint by the atmosphere of bohemian cafes. D. Rusys was intensively engaged in wall painting in his native city Klaipėda. The canvases of the artist who is currently working in Vilnius are close to the aesthetics of Italian metaphysicians and have surrealist features.

Art critics have equated the works with surrealistic features of the painter Danielius Rusys to the direction of modernist Italian painting – the aesthetics of Italian metaphysicians. “My drawing is a compilation of everything that impresses me,” he said in one of his interviews. When talking about the choice of one or another content, a similar opinion is held: the taste and understanding of the surrounding world is formed by the socio-cultural environment.
