IN THE GARDEN

November 25, 2022 / December 13, 2022

In 2022 November 25 (Friday) at 6 p.m. Baroti gallery (Didžioji vandens g. 2/ Aukštoji g. 1, Klaipėda), concluding the exhibition cycle "Plus minus thirty", invites you to the group exhibition "IN THE GARDEN" by artists represented by "The Rooster Gallery" (Vilnius).

The garden in the city not only becomes a cozy scene for the leisure rituals of the citizens, but also provides an opportunity to observe nature, its changes, seasonality, flora and fauna. Therefore, real and fictitious gardens flourish in the exhibition, familiar and unfamiliar plants spread, leaf out, grow and develop, local and exotic animals appear, cell membranes burst, revealing the pulsating life inside. The works explore nature's macro and micro processes from various angles: from ecosystems, interspecies relations, local and global ecology to internal, mysterious vital functions, determining and regulating peculiar laws. Nature reveals itself as a close, but at the same time completely unfamiliar, sometimes even potentially threatening medium. The works seem to constantly test how much we are able to understand her creative energy and discover the possibilities of coexistence. Therefore, an anthropological point constantly intervenes, measuring the relationship between nature and man, its place in the lives of individuals and communities. This connection is revealed as multifaceted and extensive, reaching back to mythic times and continuing through the present with futuristic projections. Elements of nature interweave with cultural images and practices in the works, metaphorically reflect the relationships between people, and embody human states. Fragments of gardens observed from different perspectives and in different contexts, captured in a variety of materials, forms and formats, form a kind of collective natural cabinet de curiosités in the exhibition.
