Miglė Janušaitė

Childhood Frontline

"Ceramicist Miglė Janušaitė's experience in the field of art is very diverse and multi-directional. The artist looks at ceramics from an interdisciplinary perspective, exploring its potential in unique and innovative ways. For her, creativity is an opportunity to fulfill her visions and talk about issues important to today's society: from politics to the formation or destruction of identity at various stages of human life. Analysis of the Anthropocene theme, psychology, and philosophy are also relevant to Janušaitė. In addition to ceramic works with features of social engagement, Miglė Janušaitė also creates in the fields of land art and performance, and has 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, where she specializes in the creation of clothes, hats, and jewelry. She is also the founder of the fashion brand BETWEEN.

The exhibition of ceramic sculptures "Childhood Front" raises a deep sociopolitical question about the militarization of collective consciousness and the influence of cultural traumas on everyday life, especially childhood experiences. Janušaitė's works subtly and sensitively open up space for reflections: how our cultural environment, full of unresolved conflicts and historical traumas, is shaping a new reality of childhood, in which the realities of war slip into what should be innocent and safe.”  / A. The exhibition at Baroti Gallery will be open until May 7.
