ALGIS SKAČKAUSKAS
Algis Skačkauskas is one of the most prominent painters of the second half of the 20th century in Lithuania. The painter was a member of the Lithuanian Union of Artists, a member of the artist group called “24”. A. Skačkauskas worked at the Jūratė Stauskaitė Children and Youth Art School and the J. Vienožinskis Art School in Vilnius. Algis Skačkauskas was participating in exhibitions since 1982. More than 20 personal painting exhibitions have been organized in Lithuania and abroad. Exhibited his works in forty national and international exhibitions. The artist’s works have been acquired by the Lithuanian Art Museum, Kaunas M.K. Čiurlionis Art Museum, many foreign museums, and private collectors.
The artist was a versatile creator. He not only created paintings, but also composed poems that are closely related to the motifs seen in his paintings. His poetic paintings stood out not only for professional dynamic resolutions, vibrant colors, but also for the semantic language of the paintings, which is characterized by more complex plots, mythical elements and hints of ritualism, allusions to literary and historical aspects.
