PRANCIŠKUS PORUTIS
Porutis received his education as an artist in exile in 1950 and graduated from the Yakutia Art School. Although he started participating in exhibitions as early as 1947, this artist did not organize very many of them in Lithuania. The exile status that haunted him all his life blocked the way not only for exhibitions, but also for creative albums, state commissions at the time, etc. (…) Looking at the artist’s paintings, one has to put aside thoughts about current popular art trends, because P. Porutis’s work is typical of the middle and second half of 20th century, mainly influenced by realism and neo-expressionism. The artist’s works do not reflect past artistic trends. Throughout his creative period, he remains faithful to the style of realism and neo-expressionism. (…)
