Verses

On September 5, 2025 (Friday) at 6:30 p.m., against the backdrop of the First Klaipėda Biennale, the exhibition “Verses” by Audrius Janušonis will be opened at the KADS Baroti Gallery (Didžioji Vandens St. 2).

“Verses – an allusion to poetry and the inherent closeness of drawing to writing. Monotypes, drawings with colored and simple pencils, charcoal, collages, acrylic blot prints, watercolors, ‘ruler’ drawings, engraved stoneware tiles, silhouettes of objects – all these are traces on surfaces and in space. Each of them is autonomous, created at different times and under various circumstances, works that convey their own ‘personal program.’ By combining, grouping, assembling, and constructing, the small becomes part of something larger – in the case of the exhibition, artifacts of a shared fabric.
The image is eclectic, the abundance of expressive means dictates stylistic diversity – from classical to tattoo-like, the ‘high’ descends, the ‘low’ rises, subtleties transform everyday ordinariness, balancing on the edge of banality.
It is important not to instrumentalize – not to turn them into symbols or tools illustrating ideas. In a successful case, in contact with one another, a discharge will occur and the ozone of the image will be released.”
