KLAIPĖDA EDUARDAS BALSYS ART GYMNASIUM – 40th ANNIVERSARY

On 2023 June 16 (Friday) at 6:00 p.m. Baroti Gallery opens an exhibition of the Art Department of Klaipėda Eduardas Balsys Arts Gymnasium students, dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the gymnasium.
Klaipėda E. Balsys Gymnasium of Arts colorfully welcomes its 40th spring. The art department at the Gymnasium was founded in 1985, when the school was named after the composer Eduard Balsys. The first students of the art department were boys only, who were taught by the first art teachers, painters - Rimantas Tunaitis, Dainius Drulys, sculptor Violeta Skirgailaitė who is the founder and long-time leader of the Klaipėda branch of the Lithuanian Union of Artists. The number of students and art teachers grew, consisting of creative artists - painters, graphic artists, sculptors, designers, who not only educate the young generation of artists, but also actively participate in the cultural life of Klaipėda, shaping the face of the creative side of the city.
The young generation of artists is educated in the gymnasium according to specialized art programs. In art classes, students get acquainted with color, spatial and graphic resolution, branches of fine and applied art: painting, graphics, sculpture, design, ceramics, clothing modeling, textiles. Students develop skills in drawing, composition, color studies, design, acquire knowledge of ethnoculture and the history of art and architecture.
Students of the art department successfully participate in various art exhibitions, competitions, projects not only in the city of Klaipėda, but also in the country and internationally.
Most of the graduates continue their art studies in higher education institutions in Lithuania and abroad, joining the world of art.
We invite current and former students, art lovers of young creators on June 16, 6 p.m. to the opening of the exhibition, where art and music surprises await you. We will see the works of the young artists of the Gymnasium, experience a sense of community and become creators for a moment to the sound of jazz improvisations.
