Naïve nightingale tongues
Sometimes intensely bright, and sometimes fading into sfumato. Sometimes straightforward, and sometimes laced with metaphors. Sometimes erotic and sometimes pious. Multifaceted, but always with its own personal story. Such is the painting of Vilmantas Marcinkevičius.
Vilmantas presents the exhibition "Naïve nightingale tongues" in the Baroti gallery. It exhibits the artist's works from various periods, which have never been shown in Lithuania before. Painter has been closely cooperating with the Danish gallery NB galleri for almost two decades, all his latest works travel primarily to Denmark. Therefore, the visitors of the Baroti gallery have a good opportunity to see the collection of Vilmantas paintings that has just returned from Denmark.
V. Marcinkevičius stands out from the creators of his generation. The color of his paintings is stunning with effective contrasting color combinations. By combining blue with yellow, blue with red, yellow with green, the artist creates unexpected color solutions that affect the viewer emotionally. Paradoxically, however, there is a "mystical formula" hidden in Vilmantas work - bold color combinations do not irritate. Regardless of the plot, the paintings emanate peace and vibrate only positive waves of optimism. -Julija Dailydėnaitė
